Milfor sound

Yesterday we took a tandem kayak tour to an water fall on the sound. At first we were falling behind probably, I thought because I stopped twice to take photos. But then for the next 1-1/4 hours I pulled and pushed every stroke with every fiber of my body to keep up. Nonetheless, I was still in the back. At the halfway point, I actually would have walked back to the dock but could not figure out how. I asked to switch boats but nobody would trade except for a Scottish gal. Actually there was a ways to walk back but I did not know it.  Getting pretty tired of riding drag. This was the first day I considered catching a bus to the airport and heading home. Going forward I am going to avoid such outings and rely on my legs.

Today at Milford Sound, actually a fjord, we took a 2-1/2 hour boat ride out to the Tasman sea. If you like sunshine hen it was a magic day cobalt blue water and sky, snowy mountains, white slithery waterfalls, and silver granite canyon walls. At one point they steer the boat into a waterfall to fill up glasses with glacier water. Gayle put on a poncho and took slushy glacier shower.
